This wine has been fully mature for at least a decade, but it continues to exhibit an herb-, mineral-, and plum-scented bouquet, with ripe, lush, expansive flavors that appear to have put on a bit of weight and intensity since the mid-1980s. The tannins have completely melted away, and the overall impression is one of a round, generously endowed, silky-textured wine. I would opt for drinking it over the next 3-5 years, but I have been wrong so many times in the past about the aging potential of Figeac, this wine may last longer. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/91.

($175) Medium red, with an amber rim. Decadent, mature nose dominated by chocolate, coffee, truffle and underbrush. A rather silky midweight with just enough volume to buffer its slight edge of acidity. Rather developed flavors in the mouth. This bottle seems just past its peak. 89 points

Medium garnet; ripe, cedary cassis nose; rich, generous cassis flavor; very concentrated, full, ripe and long.
