The wine boasts the smoothness, velvet, depth and density of the 1995 vintage. The Vieux Château Certan has all the qualities required for laying down and magnificent ageing over the next twenty something years. The wine should be served in a decanter, earlier when young, later as it ages.

Vieux-Chateau-Certan is quite successful in this vintage. The wine is dark ruby, with a rich, berry-like, slightly minty, oaky bouquet, plump, round, fat flavors, good, round, tannin content, and medium to full body. Like most Pomerols of 1983, it is slightly deficient in acidity, but it is round, generously flavored, and precocious. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/89.

This winery covers 35 acres in one block using careful analysis on all aspects to yield the best possible grapes in every vintage.  Today the estate's vineyard is comprised of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
