89 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 1996

This wine possesses a youthful, dark ruby/purple color with no amber. It is closed aromatically, with damp earth, new oak, and curranty fruit poking its head through the overlay of tannin. Both the acidity and tannin are high, but the wine appears to possess the requisite richness to stand up to the structure, offering a fine mid-range, impressive expansiveness, admirable richness, a full-bodied texture, and sweet fruit. As the wine sat in the glass, the tart acids became slightly more prevalent, making me uncertain as to whether this wine will ever achieve total harmony. Although it is still young, with impressive individual components, I am not totally convinced this will develop into an outstanding wine. It should continue to drink well for 8-15 years.

This has reached a fine drinking plateau, as the tannins have softened and the sweet plum and black cherry flavors have a nice black olive and herb accent. You'll still encounter firm tannins, but there's lots of richness and flavor, too.--1986 California Cabernet horizontal. (JL)

About Winery

Founded by Bruce Cohn in 1984, B.R. Cohn Winery is located in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Bruce Cohn bought the land now known as Olive Hill Estate Vineyards in 1974. The small family operated winery is surrounded by the 90 acre Olive Hill Estate Vineyards, where soils warmed by underground natural hot springs and gentle ocean breezes create a unique microclimate resulting in ideal growing conditions for ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon, with limited planting of Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel. They have matched these elegantly balanced red wines with classic Chardonnay from the nearby renowned Carneros region to offer a complete "cellar".
