1988 Clinet Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 1988 Clinet Bordeaux Blend
90 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate August 1993 The 1988 is a dazzling example of Clinet. Its color is a deep black/purple, and the bouquet exhibits the classic Pomerol scents of truffles, plums, subtle herbs, and new oak. The wine makes a huge impression, with a sweetness, rich extraction of fruit, and a full-bodied, opulent finish. This ripe, dense, fruity 1988 has shed its tannin quickly. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010.
93 points, Wine Spectator November 1998 Rather Port-like, with an impressive concentration of ripe fruit on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with loads of chocolate and berry flavors and long, long velvety tannins on the finish.--1988 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2002. –JS

About the Wine
"A super-concentrated nose. Intense blackcurrant and tar. Palate is multi-layered with immense depth and clarity. Good acidity. Balanced. This has incredible concentration of black fruits with unbelievable purity. An astounding wine. 20+ years. (24/25) Then at the L'Eglise-Clinet vertical. The nose is much more intense than the 2000 with roasted herbs, dark chocolate and black truffle, all with superb definition. The palate is very concentrated though not quite as poised as the 2000. Blackberry leaf, iron and a savoury note towards the finish."
