A beautiful light golden hue illustrates the ideal color for the age. Lovely and attractive aromas of burnt sugar, dried apricots, caramelized pear, vanilla, white flowers and a touch of quince. Very pleasantly weighted, with a rich texture that refrains from being overbearing or clumsy. Good complexity, with a delineation of fruit that shows orange marmalade, dried apricot, quince and black tea. There is just enough residual sweetness here before finishing long and dry. This is drinking wonderfully now. Tasted out of 375ml.

Tasted from the Chateau reserves at the estate. The '89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut '90. The nose offers caramelized pear, frangipane, yellow flowers and a touch of quince, moderate vigour at first, but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of bitter orange rind on the entry, marmalade, quince and a mandarin and dried apricot on the finish. There is good length to this Suduiraut, although it misses a little breeding, perhaps due to the denuding by the Creme de Tete. Tasted February 2011.

Vibrant aromas of fruit salad and honey. Moderately viscous and bright in the mouth; not nearly as powerful as the '90. Nicely balanced, even if there still a bit of acidity to be absorbed. Intensely flavored and youthful.

Exotically perfumed violet and rose petals burst on your palate, accompanied by dried apricot, lemon and honey flavors. Gorgeous and subtle, glowing on the finish.
