90 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 1995

The 1989 is the most loosely structured of the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages, but it reveals plenty of intense, honeyed fruit in a rich, authoritative, full-bodied format. A big, powerhouse, sweet, heavy wine with a penetrating fragrance of honey and flowers, this generously endowed wine already drinks well, but can easily last for 15-20 years.

88 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, August 1998

Orange-tinged color. Highly complex aromas of grilled nuts, fresh basil and game; a dried pineapple scent emerged with aeration. Rich, honeyed and very concentrated, with suggestions of tropical and exotic fruits (orange, pineapple, mango). But seems a bit aggressively alcoholic in the middle palate, with the result that the back end is somewhat dry. Previous bottles of this wine have been sweeter and finer, and have consistently scored in the 90-91 range. 88 points

92 points,

Wine Spectator, August 1995

Intense and exotic; ripe and rich botrytis flavors explode on the palate to a long finish. Very sweet and full in body, it packs in the spice, white pepper, cream, coffee, quince and dried apricot notes. -
