1989 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 1989 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
90 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate February 1993 ...one of the finest Meyneys ever produced. The opaque, black/ruby color, a bouquet of minerals and damson plums, the alcoholic, massive flavors and the mouthcoating tannins all combine to create a sensory overload. The 1989 will prove uncommonly long-lived as well as profoundly flavored...
93 points, Wine Spectator May 1999 Dark-colored, sporting loads of minty, berry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with plenty of velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Built for aging.--1989 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2005. –JS
About 1989 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
About the Winery Meyney
"Château Meyney is located in St.Estèphe and is owned by Dmes. Cordier. The 49 ha property produces on average 30,000 cases per year. Located in the east of the St.Estèphe appellation, next to Château Montrose, Meney has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc: maritime, with the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay combining to act as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests sheltering the vines from the westerly and north-westerly winds...Meyney's vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 70%; Merlot 24%; Cabernet Franc 4%; Petit Verdot 2%) lie on clay-gravel soils. Vinification includes 15 months' wood ageing, 30% new oak...Meyney is classified as a Cru Bourgeois."
