The 1990, a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and 20% Syrah, displays some bouquet development, but remains a firmly-structured offering without the generosity, richness, and texture found in all Des Cadettes produced between 1998 and 2001. The deep ruby/purple-colored 1990 was filtered, which may have pulled out some of the texture and sweetness. Nevertheless, it is a strong effort that can be drunk now and over the next 12-15 years. The wine reveals a more international as opposed to southern Rhone style, but it is still a very good wine.
