96 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 1996

In a port tasting, tasting Graham's is almost like tasting a big, rich, succulent Merlot after a group of blockbuster, tannic Cabernets. Sweeter and more obvious than many ports, the opaque purple-colored 1994 is fruity, powerful, and rich, with an addictive hedonistic quality. It will be ready to drink in 8-10 years and keep for up to 30. As always, this is a showy, flamboyant port that has the advantage of being slightly sweeter than other 1994s. A great Graham's. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2035.

95 points,

Wine Spectator, April 1997

A big, tough, young vintage Port that's closed and difficult to taste. Emits lovely aromas of chocolate, berry and plum, and is full-bodied with lots of sweet, fruit flavors and masses of velvety tannins. Long, sweet finish. Best after 2010. 11,000 cases made. (JS)

About Winery

W & J Graham's was founded in Oporto, Portugal's second city, in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham. In 1890 Graham's became one of the first Port companies to invest in Upper Douro vineyards with the acquisition of the famous property; Quinta dos Malvedos. Using the extensive knowledge of the Douro Valley gained over the previous seventy years, the Grahams chose an ideal place to plant a vineyard; an excellent south-facing aspect, fine soil composition, good gradients that facilitate drainage and a perfectly sited ridge. Five of the Douro's finest vineyards; Quinta dos Malvedos; Quinta do Tua; Quinta das Lages; Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, totaling between them 205 hectares under vine, are key to underpinning the incomparable quality and style of Graham's Vintage Ports.
