1996 Les Pagodes de Cos Bordeaux Blend
Bordeaux Blend: 750ml
about this wine:
These wines are simply younger and their roots have yet to grow to their full depth in the gravelly soil. Powerful, very aromatic, long on the palate, with a very persistent finish, Les Pagodes de Cos is a wine of refinement and pleasure, to be drunk within ten years of its bottling at the château.
Geoffrey Binder, JJ Buckley, May 2012
Brick red to garnet core with touches of orange at the rim. This elegant Bordeaux exhibits a classic mature nose of cedar, graphite and dried herbs over a core of black cherry with touches of soy sauce. Medium-bodied, the palate emphasizes red cherry, tobacco leaf and more cedar, accented by plum and spice. Soft tannins carry the finish, which still shows a touch of grip. A great option for those looking to experience a fully mature example of a Left Bank Bordeaux. Drink over the next 1-3 years.

Delivers plenty of spicy currant and berry character. Full-bodied, with well-integrated, silky tannins and a spicy, fruity aftertaste. Clever winemaking. Best second label of the vintage. From Château Cos d'Estournel. Best after 2002. –JS
