The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon was fashioned from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It offers a boisterous rosemary and black fruit-scented nose. Big, broad, and chewy, this medium to full-bodied wine is packed with black fruits, spices, and hints of tar. It is masculine, concentrated, and in need of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.

Bright medium ruby. Subdued, rather grapey aromas of sweet, sexy French oak, mocha and baking spices. Rich, fat and chewy; broad, concentrated and deep, even if it doesn't have the urgent primary fruit or sweetness of the '98. Finishes with sweet, even tannins that really spread out horizontally over the palate.

Ripe in flavor, open in texture, with a real sense of elegance surrounding the juicy currant, mint and sweet spice flavors that echo nicely on the round finish...
