The dark ruby/purple-colored 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is brilliant. Small quantities (7% of each) of Cabernet Franc and Merlot have been added to the blend, giving the wine more aromatic breadth and flavor dimension. Dense and rich, with high extraction, sweet fruit, full body, outstanding purity, and mineral/spicy aromas, the 1997 should drink well for 10-15 years.

Superripe aromas of cassis, black cherry, cocoa powder, loam, flowers and menthol. Dense and fat but juicy, with very good flavor intensity and solid underlying spine. Concentrated flavors of black cherry, currant and loam offer a youthful austerity. Finishes with firm but supple tannins, a hint of fresh herbs and very good persistence.
