Good full red. Highly aromatic nose of currant, earth, truffle, tobacco and roasted nuts. Full, ripe and sweet, with lovely depth of flavor and vinosity. Firmly structured and impressively balanced Barolo. Finishes quite long, with lush tannins and notes of smoke and earth. 89-92 points

($230) Medium-full red. Very sweet aromas of mocha, truffle, game, smoke and flinty minerals. Lush and sweet, with deep, insinuating flavor and perfectly integrated acidity. Very suave, silky and fine. Finishes very long and bright, with lush, fine tannins. This has a pH of 3.6, significantly higher than the '99's 3.45. 92 points

Blockbuster. Decadent. Wonderfully complex aromas of ripe fruit, with freshly cut cedar and cigar box aromas. Full-bodied, with fine yet powerful tannins and a long, long finish. Best after 2007. 560 cases made. (JS)
