1998 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain
Cabernet Sauvignon: 750ml
$129.99
about this wine:
"The volcanic rock and ash soil of Reverie Vineyard stresses the vines, resulting in smaller fruit laden with black cherry and currant flavors. The steep, terraced slope faces west and cane-pruned vines allow for maximum sunlight exposure for the fruit. The vines are spaced six feet apart and planted with several different clones including Sees, Clone #7 and Jordan...wine is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 510 cases produced"

The flamboyant 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain (750 cases of 100% Cabernet made from Lokoya's south-facing vineyard) is a wine of fabulous fruit intensity offering notes of jammy black currants intermixed with violets and minerals. A potential "Wine of the Vintage" candidate, this wine has immense body, great concentration, and gorgeous plum liqueur, cassis/ fruit notes that cascade over the palate with remarkable glycerin and richness. Quite an achievement! Anticipated maturity: now-2015. (Release date 09/01) Tel. (800) 600-6899

A huge success, very ripe and concentrated, with juicy plum, blackberry, black cherry, mint, sage and spice attributes. Well-focused and firmly tannic, with a solid follow-through. Drink now through 2008. 684 cases made. –JL
