89 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2000

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is evolved. A plum/ruby color is followed by aromas of toasty oak, tobacco, black currants, smoke, and spice box. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied, with excellent fruit on the attack, some real charm and roundness, but the finish is filled with astringent tannin. If this wine continues to hold its fruit, it is going to be a Bordeaux-styled, medium-weight Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 12-14 years...

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, May 2001

Ruby-red. Redcurrant, lead pencil, nuts and fresh herbs on the nose. Supple, ripe and sweet, with lovely texture and suave tannins for the vintage. ...

Wine Enthusiast, December 2001

Soft and succulent blackberry and cassis fruit upfront, framed by squeaky clean tannins and solid oak elements. This is most notable for its voluptuous, velvety texture, which coats the palate with sweet flavors. It's not a big wine but a balanced, harmonious one, and a success for the vintage.

About Winery

In 1966, Robert Mondavi built the first major winery in Napa Valley since prohibition: Robert Mondavi Winery. With the release of the Robert Mondavi Winery's Cabernet Sauvignon in the late 60's the world's eyes were opened to the potential of the Napa Valley. The historic Paris tasting in 1976, where two former winemakers of the Robert Mondavi Winery won first prize, further supported this revelation.

In 1979, Robert Mondavi established the Woodbridge Winery near his childhood home of Lodi, California and took the next step in a journey that would re-invent wine culture in America. Through tireless winemaking innovation, an uncompromising eye for quality and unshakable faith in California's vineyards, Robert Mondavi realized his vision of creating a collection of the most recognized and best-loved wines in the world.
