88 -90 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2000

This dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 exhibits sweet black cherry fruit, smoke, toasty oak, and dried herbs. Fat and opulent, this sexy wine possesses low acidity, admirable richness on the mid-palate, and a seamless finish. Stylish, hedonistic, and user-friendly, it will drink well for 10-14 years. Interestingly, this was the first vintage produced with the consultation of world-famous oenologist, Michel Rolland.

88 -90 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 1999

The finest Petit-Village since the 1982, this rich, concentrated wine boasts an opaque ruby/purple color, and a sweet, perfumed, blackberry, and cherry-scented nose with hints of toasty new oak and chocolate. Intense and medium to full-bodied, with moderately high tannin, low acidity, impressive extract, and a savory, silky finish, this offering should be drinkable young, yet keep for 15 years.

89 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2001

A strong candidate for an outstanding rating, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a sweet nose of plums, prunes, blackberries, chocolate, and mocha. Soft on the entry, revealing notes of smoke, licorice, and coffee, this fleshy, multi-layered effort finishes with abundant glycerin, tannin, and extract. Another 2-3 years of cellaring is warranted. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016.

90 points,

Wine Spectator, January 2001

Cool, racy wine. Loads of tar, berry and cherry aromas in this one. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium finish. Best after 2008. –JS
