1998 Silver Oak Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa
Cabernet Sauvignon: 750ml
$89.99
about this wine:
The core of the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Soda Canyon vineyard, a marvelous hillside site with tightly spaced vines planted in rocky, well-drained soils. The lushly flavored wines from this vineyard provide a rich foundation for the Napa blend.

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot) is a narrowly constructed, firmer, less generous offering than previous vintages of the nineties. The attractive dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet aromas of cassis, smoked herbs, oak, and earth. Gritty tannin is noticeable in the finish. Drink this Cabernet during its first 10-12 years of life.

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot) shows some aggressive, toasty, charred, oaky notes along with melted asphalt. The wine is highly extracted, has plenty of tannin, and notes of smoke, cedar, cherries, and black currants. It is a very good 1998 with moderate tannin. It should drink well for at least 10 years when it is released.
