An impressive offering from Pic St.-Loup, this wine is concentrated, with beautifully pure flavor and excellent texture. Made with noticeable new oak, is the 1998 Cuvee Hardiesse, a barrique-aged blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. Opaque ruby/purple-colored with a full-bodied, international style (because of the new oak), copious quantities of glycerin, fruit, and extract, sweet tannin, lavish new oak, and a chewy, fleshy finish, it should drink well for 4-5 years.
