1998 Clinet Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 1998 Clinet Bordeaux Blend
90 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate April 2001 ...The 1998 reveals a dense, thick-looking purple color, as well as a closed bouquet. With coaxing, notes of damp earth, spicy new oak, truffles, blackberry and plum fruit emerge. Dense, with jagged tannin, considerable power, and a roasted, chocolatey character...
89-91 points, Stephen Tanzer June 2000 Full ruby-red. Explosive aromas of currant liqueur and smoky oak; distinctly port-like yet vibrant. Lush, rich, smooth and highly concentrated; berry and dark chocolate flavors fill the mouth. Finishes very ripe, with thoroughly fine tannins and excellent length. 89-91 points
91 points, Wine Spectator January 2001 Clearly outstanding. Lots of tobacco, cherry and berry aromas. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long finish. Seductive. Best after 2007.

About the Wine
"A super-concentrated nose. Intense blackcurrant and tar. Palate is multi-layered with immense depth and clarity. Good acidity. Balanced. This has incredible concentration of black fruits with unbelievable purity. An astounding wine. 20+ years. (24/25) Then at the L'Eglise-Clinet vertical. The nose is much more intense than the 2000 with roasted herbs, dark chocolate and black truffle, all with superb definition. The palate is very concentrated though not quite as poised as the 2000. Blackberry leaf, iron and a savoury note towards the finish."
