95 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2001

This structured, formidably-endowed, deep ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied, super-rich wine exhibits notes of toffee, truffles, and abundant blackberry, cherry, and currant fruit. It cuts a large swath across the palate, and possesses copious but sweet tannin as well as a chewy, muscular mid-palate and finish. This is a compelling effort from one of the great vineyards of Pomerol. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030.

93 -95 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, February 2003

Good ruby-red color. Perfumed, highly nuanced nose of tangy red fruits, minerals, iron, tar, toffee, cedar and charry oak. Very concentrated, dense and seamless, with a texture of liquid velvet. Compelling inner-mouth perfume. Quite firm at the core, but packed with fleshy fruit and spice. Very long and fine on the back end, finishing with lush, ripe tannins and a whiplash of flavor. An uncanny combination of suavity and sheer material.

96 points,

Wine Spectator, January 2001

Subtle and harmonious young red with berry, tobacco and vanilla character. Full-bodied, with masses of extremely polished, fine tannins that build on the palate. Finishes long, with milk chocolate and berry. Best after 2008. –JS

About Winery

Château Trotanoy is part of the Moueix family portfolio, which includes Pétrus, one of the auction world's top performers. Trotanoy's vineyards are located on the high western slope of the Pomerol plateau and are just a stone's throw away from the vineyards of Pétrus. In fact, many collectors seek this Merlot-based wine because it is made in a similar style to Pétrus, yet it can be purchased for a fraction of the price.
