91 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2003

...Faugeres has turned out an opaque black/purple-colored 2000 displaying aromas of ink, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and toasty oak. Seamless, rich, and full-bodied, with even more weight and length than it revealed prior to bottling, it is a reasonably-priced, serious wine that merits attention from consumers. Delicious stuff!...

90 points,

Wine Enthusiast, June 2003

Corinne Guisez scored a great success with her 2000. The wine is finely polished, shining, with its generous, deeply concentrated fruits and fine perfumes. The tannins show through the fruit, while the wood flavors hide much more discreetly in the background.

91 points,

Wine Spectator, March 2003

Intense aromas of crushed raspberries, minerals and lilacs. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm, yet very silky tannins and a long berry and vanilla aftertaste. Very fine indeed...

About Winery

Chateau Faugeres is situated on the sunny slopes of the Dordogne valley, 6 KM east of Saint-Emillion, in one of the most beautiful winegrowing sites tn the Bordeaux region. The city of Saint-Emilion and its environs were added to the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in 1999. Before being acquired by Silvio Denz in April 2005, Chateau Faugeres had been in the ownership of the Pierre-Bernard Guisez family since 1823. The Vineyards, covering approximately 80 hectares, surround an 18th-century carthsian monastery and are divided between two AOCs: Saint-Emillion (49 hectares) and Cotes de Castillon (31 hectares). After 18 years devoted to the renaissance of Chateau Faugeres, their objective remains the same: to go even further in terms of quality. New proprietor Silvio Denz's goal is to take quality to an even higher level, thus he has hired both Michel Rolland and Stephan von Neipperg as winemaking consultants.
