2000 Rol Valentin Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 2000 Rol Valentin Bordeaux Blend
93 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate April 2003 ...most impressive vintage to date. The wine has developed beautifully in cask, and out of bottle is a gorgeously seductive, full-bodied, heady, perfumed style of wine, with a dense purple color and a sweet nose of blackberries, cassis, licorice, coffee, and toast. Layered, deep, and chewy, with considerable body, noticeable structure, and both muscle and delineation, this is a large-scaled Rol Valentin that should age effortlessly, yet be approachable in two to three years...
92 points, Stephen Tanzer June 2003 ($67) Medium ruby-red. Sexy, smoky aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, musky espresso, chocolate and smoke. Lush, fat and expressive, with very sweet flavors of black raspberry, kirsch, game and chocolate; already rather open-knit. With its compelling volume, glyceral texture and uncanny mouth coverage, this could easily be mistaken for a top California wine. Finishes with a very fine dusting of tannins and lingering sweetness. Will offer great early appeal. 92 points
92 points, Wine Spectator July 2003 Fascinating aromas of blackberries, spices and toasted oak. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long and caressing finish. Racy. Rol Valentin is always outstanding...

About the Wine
"This 2000 Rol Valentin is virtually a vin de garage, and the estate's finest wine to date. It is an opaque, crimson colour. Velvety and tasty on the palate, it has a fabulous bouquet of soft cherry liqueur with blackberry and blackcurrant nuances. Better integrated acidity than in previous vintages. Opulent and full-bodied. The richness and fruitiness mask the tannins. This impressive and charming wine has a magnificent flavour."
