about this wine:
Baron de Ley Rioja Gran Reserva defines the beauty and quality of traditionally styled Rioja. This is a true classic showing finesse combined with power and built to stand the test of time.

Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested and transported to the winery in small containers where they see a strict sorting and destemming followed by a cool fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is aged for 24 months in new and use French and American oak followed by more than 5 years in bottle prior to release.

Easily offering the best bang for the buck of this trio is the 2001 Reserva from a great Rioja vintage. The wine is 100% Tempranillo and was aged in American oak for 14 months. It is dark ruby-colored with a fragrant nose of spice, cedar, red currants, and cherry that jumps from the glass. In the mouth the wine is intensely flavored with a stylish grace and elegance that reflects traditional winemaking in a fine year. The wine has enough structure and balance to drink well for another 8-10 years. This is a great value in Rioja.

This expressive red shows a nice balance of fresh fruit with mature flavors of tobacco, cedar and spice. Medium-bodied, with light, firm tannins and fresh acidity. The mouthwatering finish brings you back for another sip. Drink now through 2014. 200 cases imported. -TM
