2002 Justin Vineyard Syrah
Syrah: 750ml
$24.99
about this wine:
"The 2003 Syrah growing season produced smaller than normal clusters with great color and intensity. Extensive viticulture practices including shoulder removal and green drop resulted in even ripening throughout all the vineyards. The grapes for our Reserve Syrah came from multiple hillside vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles. Each of the two blocks were harvested, fermented and aged separately until blending took place. Individual barrels were hand selected for this limited case Reserve release. Tasting Notes The color of this wine has a dark ruby red hue with a slightly brick red outline. Aroma's of pepper, spice and a overtone of ripe red fruit and smoke make up the nose of this wine. The soft, supple entry is followed up by a lengthy mid palate that combines blackberry, spice box and a hint of gamy character. The wine finishes with a good harmony of acid-tannin balance with great oak integration."

Smells refined and oaky, showing aromas of ripe currants, chocolate, herbs and white pepper. Smooth, polished and dry, with rich tannins.

...firm and juicy, with rich plum, wild berry, blackberry and perfumed floral aromas. It tightens up on the finish, where the tannins show their muscle, ending with a hint of greenness and mocha...
