An attractively spicy nose features aromas of both red and blue pinot fruit, anise and sandalwood that also suffuse the delicious, round and fleshy middle weight flavors that possess good detail and precision on the moderately long, focused and still relatively tight finish. At only 8 years of age, it's clear that this is still very much of a youngster though it is not forbidding as an hour's worth of aeration renders it at least approachable. There is good underlying material and this should make for a lovely wine in time.

The domaine, located in Nuits-St.-Georges, has 12 acres distrib-uted among the following appellations: Richebourg- 70 year old vines, Clos Vougeot- between 15 & 55 years old, Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "les Saint Georges"- 50-60 year old vines, Vosne Romanee 1er Cru "les Petits-Monts", Vosne Romanee "aux Reas"- 45 year old vines, Nuits Saint Georges "la Charmotte"- 42 year old vines and Bourgogne Rouge. The domaine has been in the Liger-Belair family for 250 years.
