This elegant, stylish blend of 66% Shiraz and 34% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits toasty, smoky oak intermixed with black currant, bay leaf, and underbrush characteristics. With good definition, medium to full body, plenty of style as well as class, and a spicy finish, it will provide immense pleasure over the next 7-8 years.

($40) Full ruby. Superripe, porty aromas of dried berries, mocha and maple syrup; just this side of pruney. Then superripe, thick and rich, with dark berry, chocolate and saline elements as well as a hint of cabernet greenness. Finishes with chewy, sweet, rich tannins and a flavor of jammy berries. This could get tiring to drink, and yet there's decent freshness on the back end. (The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA) 88? points

Supple, generous and spicy, with black pepper, olive and spicy oak around the dark cherry and prune flavors, remaining rich and concentrated through the solid finish. Drink now through 2007. 3,300 cases made. (HS)
