An oily yet elegant green fruit nose with interesting menthol and petroleum notes, which are rare but not unheard of in young Puligny. The middle weight flavors are round, rich and complex but lack the same degree of underlying tension. However, the finishing intensity and sheer length are better than the straight Puligny but overall, this is only a touch better.

Minerals, rosemary, and talcum powder can be found in the nose of the 2002 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres. This broad, sappy, soft wine reveals lush layers of pears, flowers, and stones. It is expressive, seamless, and velvety. Drink it over the next 6 years.

Sulfidey, leesy aromas of white truffle, oyster shell, baked bread and smoky oak; conveys a strong impression of soil. Then rich, dense and backward, with nutty and leesy elements. Large-scaled, layered and tactile for a wine from this cru and this producer.

Gorgeous, offering dense smoke, mineral, peach and citrus aromas and flavors backed by a vivid structure and rich texture. Taut, yet balanced, this will reveal all its charms over time. Best from 2006 through 2015. 400 cases imported. –BS
