A lovely ripe, mature bouquet shows notes of baked plum, black cherry and kirsch, with more savory notes of black tea and star anise. Full-bodied on entry, with muddled blackberry, rose petal and touches of cedar. This is just starting to hits it's stride. Surprising fresh, there is a good backbone of chalky tannins that provides just enough support to carry the fruit. This could easily cellar for an additional five years. For a hot vintage this is faring very well. With no signs of over the top ripeness this is a open and sexy Pomerol that you can pop and enjoy right away.

The home estate of the brilliant, world-renowned oenologist, Michel Rolland, and his equally talented wife, oenologist Dany Rolland, Bon Pasteurâ_Ts 2003 has turned out extremely well for such a challenging vintage, better, in fact, than many Pomerol estates with higher pedigrees. Sweet black raspberries, cherries, and smoky herb aromas jump from the glass of this tasty, round, moderately tannic, succulent, low acid Pomerol. Lush, medium-bodied, and sensual, it will benefit from 1-2 more years of bottle age, and should drink well for 12-14.

Red-ruby. Sexy aromas of cherry, smoked meat and minerals, with suggestions of chocolate and mint. Sweet, ripe and full, with better depth of flavor than many of its Pomerol neighbors in 2003. Finishes with ripe, dusty tannins. This has turned out well.

Aromas of flowers, dark fruits and anise. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fruity, citrus aftertaste. Subtle and firm. Dig down to find it all. Best after 2009. 1,905 cases made. –JS
