As it almost always is, there is a touch more of everything here, in particular aromatic complexity as the iron and soil notes give more depth to the ripe pinot fruit aromas and while the flavors aren't quite as fine, this is a serious if forward wine that should drink well early yet age for at least a decade, perhaps longer.

Dark berries and spices make up the nose of the 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers. A black cherry-dominated wine, it expands on the palate to reveal a suave, satin-textured character. This fruit-forward wine is lush, generous, and pleasing. Drink it over the next 5 years.

There's still some oak influence, lending vanilla and other sweet spices that complement the black cherry and cassis flavors. Full and powerful, yet stylish, with a long, spice- and mineral-infused finish. Real sweetness to the fruit. Best from 2009 through 2020. 35 cases imported. –BS

Clive Coates describes this as the "best cellar in the village" of
Marsannay, which is located at the northernmost tip of the Côte de
Nuits. The domaine is one of the finest in Burgundy, and this vigneron
is one to watch in the future, but he has not always enjoyed such
auspicious prospects. In "The Great Domaines of Burgundy", Remington
Norman writes: "Bruno Clair's excellent Domaine has grown out of a
certain amount of Burgundian misfortune." When Joseph Clair married
Mlle. Daü in 1910, their union formed one of the largest family-owned
domaines in the Côte d'Or,Domaine Clair-Daü.
