Reviews of 2003 Domaine de Cristia Chateauneuf du Pape Proprietary Blend
90-92 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate January 2004 Complex aromas of flowers, incense, ground pepper, raspberries, and cherries emerge from the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape. This dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied effort reveals firm tannin, loads of freshness, superb concentration, and an earthy, powerful yet elegant finish. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age, and consume it over the following 12-15.
Alain and Baptiste Grangeon are potential new superstars from Chateauneuf du Pape, and this offering is representative of the sensational wines that have emerged from their vineyards in the northeastern sector, near Courthezon, over the last three years. This wine is a structured, tannic, somewhat backward effort that goes against the tendency of this vintage to produce fleshy, opulent, succulent Chateauneufs that generally require early consumption.

About 2003 Domaine de Cristia Chateauneuf du Pape Proprietary Blend
About the Winery Domaine de Cristia
"Domaine de Cristia has come on like gangbusters over the last decade, since proprietors Baptiste Grangeon took over from his father in 1999. All of Cristia’s vineyards are in the northeast sector of the appellation, with their sensational 100% Grenache Vieilles Vignes cuvee coming from 70- to 80-year-old vines in sandy soil not far from the Rayas vineyard. They apparently only made one cuvee in 2008, a normal occurrence in Chateauneuf du Pape given that vintage is average to just above-average in quality.
As I have indicated over the last few years, this is one of the superb newer producers in Chateauneuf du Pape. Their cellars are in the village of Courthezon, which is located adjacent to the very northeast sector of the appellation. Their 2007s are spectacular wines. This superb Chateauneuf du Pape producer also fashions tasty Cotes du Rhones and Cotes du Rhone-Villages meant to be consumed during their first few years of life." - Robert Parker
