The 2003 Cameron (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec) plays it close to the vest. With an overall impression of elegance, finesse, and restraint, this medium-bodied, well-knit 2003 exhibits sweet chocolate, black currant, herb, and spice characteristics, and a personality not unlike Flora Springs’ Trilogy cuvee. It should be consumed over the next decade. Fred Fisher and his daughter/winemaker, Whitney, continue to fine tune their wines. They have had to replant several of their Napa vineyards as well as parcels at their beautiful mountainside estate on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. Dark red. Currant, mocha, brown spices and tobacco on the nose. Suave, silky and sweet but quite restrained in the mouth, hinting at mocha, chocolate and game. The creamy finish offers sexy nutmeg and clove spice along with a flavor of milk chocolate. Turned a bit drier as it opened in the glass.
