Stephen Tanzer's IWC, October 2005

Pale yellow color. Sexy nose combines pineapple, coconut, soft citrus scents and hazelnut. Fat and creamy, but with solid minerality and underlying grip. Nicely aromatic and expressive, with harmonious acidity framing and extending the wine's flavors. This is delicious-and impressively long for the vintage. 91-93 points

The complexities of Burgundy! This is the vineyard next to the more familiar Les Charmes, just up the slope-hence dessus, meaning above. This vineyard gives a mineral character, hinting at Chablis, but with some Meursault richness as well. Hold this wine, with its delicious vanilla flavors, and it will be ready in a year.

90 points,

Wine Spectator, February 2007

A touch of licorice adds a distinctive note to this lean, firmly structured, powerful white. Shows honey, apple and lemon flavors, with a viscosity midpalate, so be patient. Best from 2009 through 2015. 150 cases imported. –BS

About Winery

Vincent Girardin was born in Santenay, in the Côte de Beaune and is part of a winemaking family whose origins date to the 17th century (11th generation). Now in his forties, Vincent began in 1982 with only 2 hectares (5 acres) of vines. When his father retired, Vincent took over several additional hectares to which he could devote himself.

Vincent Girardin is a man of conviction. He knows what he wants. He has grasped his profession firmly with both hands. Vincent's roots are deep in the most prestigious terroirs of Burgundy. He knows every vine, every parcel of land. He also ensures that the very highest quality is maintained by following each wine's development every step of the way, at all times respecting the most important element of Burgundy - the individuality of its terroirs.
