One canā_Tt say enough about the terrific job manager Christian Seeley is doing at Pichon Longueville Baron. The 2004 possesses a dense ruby/purple color, a classic nose of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite, and smoke, an elegant, medium to full-bodied style, crisp acidity, and freshness and definition reminiscent of a down-sized 1996. This well-made Pauillac should be at its finest between 2008-2020.

Bright medium ruby. Captivating aromas of black cherry, minerals, caramel and pepper. Minerally and firm, with excellent clarity and cut to the currant and black cherry flavors. Not especially broad but shapely, firm and long, with lovely lingering perfume.

Lots of currant, licorice and light tar aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet refined and silky on the palate, with a lightly chewy finish. Needs time. Best after 2010. 20,000 cases made. –JS
