($197; made entirely from vines in Aloxe-Corton) Pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of lemon peel and minerals, with a suggestion of exotic fruits. Then powerful and chewy, with superb verve and length. The powerful spine of acidity is enrobed by the wine's flesh but gives the wine terrific power and structure. Stony finish offers outstanding length and cut.

(from old vines on the Aloxe-Corton side of this grand cru) Musky, leesy, ineffable aromas of pineapple, apple, flowers, minerals, nut oil and charred oak. Almost painfully intense and bright but wonderfully ripe and not hard. Like the Chevalier, this is a bracing mouthful of crushed stone. A wine with this kind of ripe fruity acidity could never become tiring to drink. Extremely long on the aftertaste. 92-95 points
