In order to produce the finest wine possible under the Les Pavots label, Peter Michael has been culling out lots for a second wine. The knock-out 2004 L’Esprit des Pavots (45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot) is more forward than its bigger sibling, displaying plenty of melted fudge, creme de cassis, charcoal, licorice, herbs, and smoky oak. Opulent, fleshy, and soft, it is both a hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
