From the limestone soils of Paso Robles, the 2004 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard (planted in the late 19th century) exhibits abundant structure and freshness as well as superb fruit, full body, and powerful briery, raspberry, peppery, herbal components with a decided kirsch liqueur-like note and striking minerality. This stunning effort is one of the more backward 2004 Zins. Amazingly, its 16.2% alcohol is completely hidden.

Ripe and fleshy, with aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, strawberry and blueberry. Sharply focused, intense and complex. The flavors sail on the finish, ending with a touch of heat. Drink now through 2010. –JL
