It begins to sound like a broken record, but this is the finest wine I have ever tasted from this 30-acre vineyard planted in limestone soils on the Canon-Fronsac plateau. Composed of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc as well as a small quantity of Malbec, this is a full-bodied red (14.5% natural alcohol) revealing noble, graceful scents of black currants, cherries, licorice, cedarwood, and spice box. In the mouth, flavors of crushed rocks as well as red and black fruits emerge. Full-bodied power and sensational concentration and purity are the result of serious efforts in the vineyard. The wine should age beautifully for 15 or more years.

A beautiful nose of ripe berry and a hint of vanilla follows through to a full body, with refined tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Modern and precise. Best after 2010. –JS
