The 2005 Hermitage has an opaque color and hints of white chocolate intermixed with some meat juices, black cherry and black currant, high tannin, and undeniable minerality. This is a medium to full-bodied wine that needs 3-5 years of cellaring and should drink well for 15 or more years.

Opaque ruby. Explosive floral aromas of ripe red and dark berries and suave baking spices. Tightly focused bitter cherry and cassis flavors are framed by youthful tannins, gaining sweetness with extended aeration. Like it did last year, minerality leads the way, adding energy to the deep berry flavors.

Packed with black currant, fig and black cherry fruit, this is also very refined, with incense, graphite, mineral and spice notes helping to extend the long, silky finish. Has power and grace and should age beautifully. Best from 2008 through 2022. 540 cases made. –JM
