Geoffrey Binder, JJ Buckley, October 2012

Vibrant straw color. Expressive and plentiful citrus, ripe pear, and stone fruit aromas, with a hint of toast. Wonderfully rich and creamy texture, with abundant ripe white peach and nectarine transitioning to green apple and lovely floral notes. Full-bodied with vibrant, lively acidity that maintains structure and carries through to a long finish. An excellent Blanc de Blanc, this is ready to drink now.

90 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, October 2011

Pale yellow. Fresh pear and lemon rind on the nose, with notes of musky herbs, lees and dried flowers adding depth. Taut and focused on entry, then richer and broader in the mid-palate, offering sappy citrus rind and underripe orchard fruit flavors and a hint of tarragon. The bitter citrus quality carries through to the finish, which offers very good punch and bite. -JR

90 points,

Wine Spectator, December 2011

Subtle, with a modest mineral base note to the apple, white peach, anise and biscuit flavors. Lovely citrusy acidity frames the wine, and the resulting fresh juiciness brings you back for another sip. Drink now. 586 cases made. -AN

About Winery

Diebolt-Vallois is another Cote des Blancs domaine from a region that seem to occupy more wine lists and store shelves lately. The Diebolt family's holdings are mostly centered in the grand cru site of Cramant and the premier cru village of Cuis along with a smattering of smaller plots located in the Cotes de Bar and Montagne de Reims.

Jacques Diebolt began making champagne when he was 17, having been assigned vineyard duties by his father while learning cellar work from his grandfather. The family's small holdings were expanded when he married and incorporated a portion of the vineyards owned by his wife's family.

The blanc de blancs cuvées are complex and exciting examples of the style.
