Although the Migoua commands a higher price, in my opinion it is the Tourtine that represents Tempier’s best cuvee. A wonderful, ebullient nose of blackberry, cherry, hedgerow and an almost savoury character. The palate has sublime balance and greater minerality than other cuvees; vigorous, utterly harmonious with a well-defined, wonderful poised finish. Outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025

About the Winery Domaine Tempier
Domaine Tempier is located at Le Plan du Castellet. Its vineyards
stretch over three different communities- Le Castellet, Le Beausset and
La Cadière. Domaine Tempier owns 30 hectares. It produces AOC Bandol
exclusively - an average of 68% red, 29% rosé and 3% white wines,
approximately 120,000 bottles per year. In the wine cellar, modern
techniques are used - a pneumatic press, stainless vats and cold
processing unit - but the wine is raised in traditional wooden vats (10
to 50 hl).
About the Wine
It contains 70-80% of the Mourvèdre grape depending on the year. La Tourtine
site is often swept by the Mistral wind and is particularly well exposed to the
sun. Thus it produces a great wine that ages well even after 10 or 15
years and keeps its red berry and spice aromas.
