Jeff Loo, JJ Buckley, August 2012

Dark ruby at the core with little variation towards the rim. The nose opens with sweet plum, grilled beef, tobacco, and smoke, framed by cassis and crushed rocks. The palate is lengthy and rich with flavors of vanilla, raspberry and lavender. Full bodied with plenty of tannins, the mid palate showcases a wonderful acidity that lingers alongside flavors of mocha and espresso, leading into a long finish. This wine is built for the cellar. Enjoy now or cellar another 3-5 years and enjoy through the following 15+.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2008

One of the finest under-the-radar estates in Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Bergey's 2005 (a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot) offers up aromas of scorched earth, wet stones, burning embers, charcoal, and copious black currant and cherry fruit. The sumptuous bouquet is accompanied by a full-bodied wine displaying dazzling purity, sweet tannin, and a long, opulent finish. This beauty will be drinkable at a relatively early age for a 2005. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.

Wine Spectator, March 2008

Aromas of mineral, blackberry and licorice lead to a full body, with lots of racy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. There's plenty of character, with a polished, refined style, yet tannic. Best after 2011. 9,830 cases made. –JS
