A blend of 62% Zinfandel, 30% Syrah, and 8% Mourvedre, the 2005 Leone’s exhibits gorgeously sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit along with a hint of resiny pine forest, medium to full body, terrific texture and richness, and a Mediterranean-styled personality as well as mouthfeel. Enjoy it over the next 3-4 years.

64% zinfandel, 28% mourvedre and 8% syrah) Ruby-red. Exotic, oak-spiced raspberry and candied cherry scents are brightened by zesty minerals and fresh flowers. Tangy, nicely focused red fruit flavors gain weight with air but retain energy. Finishes with excellent cut and thrust, repeating the tangy red berry qualities. 90 points

Exotic and a bit rustic, but appealing for its aromas of briary raspberry, chalky mineral and meaty spice. The flavors are jammy at first, but the tannins turn dense and gritty on the finish. Zinfandel, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2009 through 2012. 480 cases made. –TF
