The 2005 Fume Blanc Reserve To-Kalon has sensational fruit, minerality, and texture. The wine exhibits wonderful gun flint, honeyed grapefruit, fig, and melony notes in a medium-bodied style with just a touch of spice. There is about 15% Semillon added, which has, no doubt, fleshed out and contributed to the rather enticing texture of this wine. It should drink well for 2-3 years.

($40) Good pale yellow. Aromas of pineapple, coconut and vanilla, plus a whiff of applesauce that winemaker Gonzalez says is from the 15% semillon. Penetrating and brisk but not hard, with lovely mineral cut to the fresh pineapple and grapefruit flavors. This has terrific fruit and definition. Finishes with citric, stony lift and impressive definition. This bottling includes a good bit of fruit from the T Block, planted in 1959. Quite different in shape from the broader 2004 version. 91 points
