The 2005 The Boxer Shiraz (primarily from McLaren Vale, followed by Langhorne Creek and Padthaway) exhibits a black/blue/purple color, an incredible density of fruit along with that tell-tale purity, blackberries, white flowers, melted chocolate, sweet licorice, and subtle wood. Full-bodied, beautifully textured and layered with an awesome finish, it should drink well for 4-6+ years. Two more expensive Mollydooker cuvees will be reviewed in my full Australian report in the October issue.

Dark and dense. A big wine, yet lively with nutmeg- and cinnamon-scented blackberry, cherry and licorice flavors, balanced against firm but well-integrated tannins. Needs some time to soften. Best from 2007 through 2014. 14,194 cases made. –HS

the phillips high end stuff is great (integrity) but their entry level wines just seem disjointed and overripe. kind of like cough syrup. tried to like it , but just too much oak, alcohol and jammy fruit..........

tasty, not so complex, but enjoyable. better the 2nd day. It had more secondary flavors and the fruit was not too Over the Top. For $20 not bad. Most people will like it. |

n 2005, Sarah and Sparky Marquis' ultimate dream came true: they began to develop their own proprietary label.
