The irrepressible Michel Rolland and his wife, Dany, have turned out an outstanding 2006, a vintage that unquestionably favored Pomerol. Luscious mocha-infused cherry fruit, smoke, and earth aromas cascade from the glass of this round, generously endowed, medium to full-bodied Bon Pasteur. With good acidity, luscious fruit, and crisp freshness, it should drink well for 15 or more years.

About Winery

Chateau Bon Pasteur lies to the northeast of the town of Pomerol, its vineyards located on both gravel and clay soils. The property is inextricably linked with the world famous oenologist Michel Rolland whose advocating of late-harvesting the Merlot grape and new oak maturation has been adopted by many vignerons around the world, though not necessary to unanimous approval. The encepagement of the wine is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Le Bon Pasteur's grapes are hand-picked and are fermented in temperature-controlled-stainless steel vats. The wine is then matured in oak casks (80% new) for 18-20 months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Le Bon Pasteur produce supremely well-balanced Pomerols that are supple and packed with juicy, lush Merlot fruit.
