Intense aromas of blueberries, blackberries and fresh mushrooms. Full body, with chewy tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Character goes from minerals to flowers to wet earth. Goes tannic. Need another three to four years of bottle age to open.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a deep, intense wine laced with black cherries, minerals, crushed flowers, and violets. This shows superb polish and elegance all the way through to the textured, expansive finish. La Rasina's Brunello is one of the more opulent wines of the vintage but all of the elements come together quite nicely, especially with some time in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.

# 42 on Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2011; La Rasina offers a beautifully dark and austere expression of Brunello with almost exaggerated intensity. The wine is dense, extracted and velvety with smooth cherry and vanilla backed by a firm tannic backbone. Drink after 2015. - M.L.
