88 points,
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2009
Earthy, autumnal, vegetative notes intermixed with sweet cola, black cherry, and black currant are present in this dense purple-colored wine. Firm tannins are present, but the wine has excellent fruit, depth, and texture. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2022.
89 -90 points,
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2007
Always a noteworthy value among the Medocā_Ts classified growths, the 2006 Lafon Rochet offers a dark opaque purple color as well as a classic bouquet of blue and black fruits intermixed with damp earth and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, powerful, and rich, it is not yet complex, but the fruit is present, the texture is enticing, and the wine appears set for 15-18 years of longevity.
Shaun Bishop, JJ Buckley, May 2009
Red-ruby. Currant, licorice, smoky oak and a whiff of meat on the nose. At once smooth and vinous, with a slightly leafy character to the currant, mineral and graphite flavors. Nicely lush wine with well-buffered, building tannins and good length.
