Dark core with purple and red hues towards the rim. The nose shows notes of of ground coffee, mocha and spice that leads into a medley of ripe currants, fresh blackberries and baked plums. This medium to full bodied wine showcases luscious tannins and pleasing acidity that accompanies the balance of earthy mushroom, truffles and grilled fig. Decant for an hour before serving and watch this age gracefully over the next 8-10 years. New York steak anyone?

Ruby-red. Exotic aromas of berry liqueur, coffee and mocha. Supple and lush but with harmonious acidity giving shape to the flavors of black raspberry and chocolate. A plush, seamless wine with nicely restrained sweetness. Finishes with substantial granular tannins. (My sample of the 2006 was tart and dry, and may not have been representative.)
