Rich and creamy on the palate, with a piercing jolt of deep fruit, tar, licorice, and new leather, plus a pleasant mid-palate packed with very fine tannins, this only hints at what's to come. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is quite a bit richer than the 2005 tasted alongside it. The 2006 shows gorgeous depth as it opens up in the glass. Dark fruit, licorice, smoke and tar are some of the notes that flesh out in this broad-shouldered Cabernet Sauvignon. A creamy, textured finish rounds things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026.

Deep medium ruby. Sexy, inviting aromas of dark berries, licorice pastille, spicecake and leather. Densely packed but light on its feet, with good sweetness and breadth to the black fruit flavors. Distinctly round for a young cabernet from this producer. The broad finish features sweet, dusty tannins and excellent length.

About Winery

Randy Dunn is a celebrated maker of heirloom California Cabernets.  Dunn began his career with Caymus Winery where he produced some of Caymus' most distinguished Cabernets. He purchased his own land in Howell Mountain in 1979 and he currently produces about 5,000 cases of his Howell Mountain Cabernets. They also produce a second label from the surrounding Napa Valley appellations and he acquires the grapes for this wine from John Caldwell's vineyard. Dunn devotes himself to his property and to the Dunn label but still remains one of the valley's most esteemed consultants.  He has been extremely influential on the stylistic development of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
