Full ruby-red color. Crushed black cherry, cassis, menthol and licorice on the slightly medicinal nose. Dense, juicy and sweet, with lovely concentration of redcurrant and raspberry flavor. Finishes very long, with serious, building tannins. I find this very reserved today, especially compared to the fleshier 2005.

About the Winery Kongsgaard
The Kongsgaard family has owned land in Napa since the 1920s and have
sublet long-term another 10 acres to two prominent wineries in the
Carneros and near St. Helena. Fifth generation Napa natives John and
Maggy Kongsgaard planted the core of the vineyard in the late 1970s on
the original estate owned by the Kongsgaard family. They practice the
traditional technique of minimal intervention in their growing and
winemaking; this combines with extremely low yielding vines and
subsequently leads to the production of intensely expressive wines.
To
quote wine critic Robert Parker, "John Kongsgaard is in search of the
Holy Grail and these are among the most interesting, naturally made
wines one will find on Planet Earth".
